I installed the new Geniatech firmware with the 20-3-13 build from this thread http://www.pivosforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2967 and everything seems to be ok after i've been fiddling for a couple of days...
- dts working from within xbmc, not on my network tho; aspect ratio problem fixed; bottom bar disappears when xbmc starts; generally faster; no random crashes; smooth 1080p playback; still had to set audio delay in xbmc player; ff and rw buttons dont work in player, it locks up so i just click on the slider bar to move to another point in movie; everything plays in stock player, no external player .xml file needed......pretty happy with my box right now so gonna stop fiddling and watch some stuff!
It´s really nice to see that there is a constant improvement of the ATV1200 firmware and XBMC is working pretty well now.

However, there are still some drawbacks, I realized as I directly compared the ATV1200 with my 5 years old PS3.
-with the latest firmware (not before) I realized sound dropouts (very short noise, but annoying) (via HDMI)
-also with the latest firmware I have these color faults (really annoying), random occurance, I have found no connection to heating of the device
-with 1080p you have sometimes a kind of fly screen effect, maybe a result of up-scaling? No idea.

Altogether, only for the purpose of watching movies and in this forum most people are interested in this function, even the PS3 seems to be the better solution, a 7 years old technology!

What does CEC stand for?

Also I have a question on NAS networks and XMBC..

Which is better to use for Streaming?
Windows (SMB)
NFS
UPnP
CIF's

As now I actually have all coming up within the Browse for new Share..
I have a Synology DS212j and while is does have some problems with file transfer speeds that are getting worked on via their forums there is a lot of support for it via side loaded apps.. Thus I am running Plex and Bubble UPnP and have yet to settle down with one as my main server.

I am running a gigibit switch so as a whole I am not finding any problems as such, but I would like to know from the more knowledgeable about these things.
I received a very kind support from MyGica! Really nice people.
They proposed a firmware with output "real 1080p", not upscaled:

www.geniatech.com/down-eng/androidtvbox/update_spi_mx_1080p_20130326.zip SPI
www.geniatech.com/down-eng/androidtvbox/update_mx_1080p_20130326.zip firmware

This firmware is really nice!
The image played with the xbmc is now a real 1080p, but the sound has issues: it comes and goes intermittently with a mkv. Seams like a buffer problem…
I played file via samba ethernet and via USB: same issues with the sound.

Suggestions on how to solve sound/buffer problem with this firmware version? may be with the advanced settings?

thanks in advance!

Please, link to the chinese firmware are you using.

i just installed that firmware then the xbmc I mentioned. I'm sure there is a new nightly build though.

Still getting flickering but I think that's the box.

Are you using the "update_Mygica_20130329.img" firmware?
What do you mean when you say "still getting flickering" , are you able to get XBMC smooth play with hardware decoding? What about the real 1080p play (not upscaled form 720p) ?

thanks

I'm currently using the above firmware. Flickering as in the picture goes for a split second then returns. Just added a powered usb hub and that seems to have stopped it. My resolution is showing 720p but as the firmware and xbmc are running fine then i'm not updating to the one Geniatech have just put out. I'll wait and see if you all enjoy it first Smile
I want to comment on a couple of curiosities about the updates.

There seems to be a file that atv1200 checks to see if you have a new update:
http://update.mygica.cn/A6/update.xml

In this file, looks have made available the following update:
http://up.stdvr.com/mygica/android/A6/fi...130329.img

But that file does not exist. It seems to be referring to this one:
http://up.stdvr.com/mygica/android/A6/fi...130329.img

If we look at the contents of the directory containing the update, we see that there are more firmwares:
update_Mygica_20130131.img
update_Mygica_20130314.img
update_Mygica_20130329.img
update_Mygica_A6_20130322.img
update_Mygica_A6_20130330.img

And it appears a TXT file that appears to contain the change history:

I have a feeling that the MyGica from the China Website is geared more towards the Chinese Market as I brought mine off their domestic website within China via Taobao. Thus I had upgraded to the 14/03/2013 version. It boots into a Chinese launcher with Chinese ITV geared front end.
Easy to fix as I run Apex always anyway so that I have more control but previous versions had no bottom navigation bar which I find painful as I like using the mouse also it is easier for using the remote.
Don't know what the new version has got as just loaded the new Geniatech upgrade and happy with it..

If you haven't already heard of Yatse.. go and look as its too good not to use..
I am finding it is givening me a lot of extra controls and options that are hidden via using a mouse or the remote that comes with the box.
Like save to favourites and the "right click" options you would normally get but with our box we only get a "back" option with it.
Yatse-Full remote Control of XBMC

Also a nice repository list to add in to your XBMC..

I had updated to the new geniatech firmware but my xbmc froze and crashed after exiting playing any video. Gone back to the mygica one now and it's pretty stable, still upscaling from 720p I think Sad

No i just installed as normal for an update.

I hope there is a firmware and xbmc running smoothly soon. I have raspbmc on the Raspberry PI and it's much more stable.
Guys I've been through 4 different android boxes and the ATV1200 smokes them all.

I'm having a semi annoying issue though with the audio drops volume every so often than gets loud again? This is through HDMI and the firmware is from later last month.

Since the new update the airplay function is working great.... HOWEVER, if you are to use the function within XBMC the bottom andriod bar re-appears and won't go away unless you exit the app and got back in.

Does anyone know a work around for this ?

What app are you using for Airplay?
I still haven't got my head around this Airplay as yet..

Is it like this?

I have got the BubbleUPNP going and its working as you might expect as in using the server to show Pictures from the Tablet out to the TV.
but what is the setup you have got going?
Streaming to your Tablet or Phone using XMBC via the ATV1200?
