I use XBMC on my laptop both with the built in speakers and with a bluetooth headset.
With Eden I just had to turn on the headset and XBMC then picked it up as the default audio output.
Now with Frodo it looks like XBMC is ignoring the default output device and looks at Settings -> System -> Audio output -> Audio output device

Like you can see changing the audio output is a painful thing when I do it daily.
It seems to be a regression with the new AudioEngine. Most likely won't be fixed (if it can be) for v12.0. Maybe for a bugfix v12.1 release, or for v13, but I don't really know how the AudioEngine stuff works.
Must be a small fix to add the system's default audio device. Maybe Memphiz can take a look at this.

here you go:

Just select "default" as output device and it will use osx default.

Just select "default" as output device and it will use osx default.

- "Default" audio device is listed.
- Menu sounds work with this device.
- Starting a video crashes xbmc for both the "Default" and "Built-in Output".
