also here is the output of the boblight window with me starting xbmc (xbmc saying boblight connected) and then starting a movie...

Your prefix is wrong. This should do it, I guess: 416461003164
Also, you should configure 150 LEDs, not only 50. (Red, Green, Blue)

The prefix depends on the software you use on the arduino.
41 64 61 00 31 64 is the right prefix for a 50 LED setup running the official Adalight software.

New boblight version is up.
I just want to thank you for this.
I've had my setup going for about 4-5 months now and used both Prismatik and the Adalight version to control the LED's, and this seems to have virtually no CPU footprint compared to the other two. It may be how I set mine up but Prismatik seemed to eat about 20-25% of my CPU (AMD A10-5700) and create an ever increasing memory footprint (up to 2gb before flushing and starting again). Adalight was better but still saw an increase in CPU and memory usage.
I looked into boblight but was a bit unsure as everything that I saw suggested it wasn't able to natively run in Windows. So, again, thanks for putting this and making it so simple that I could follow it without any problems!
Hi here is a little mod to start boblight with xbmc only and close it after you will close XBMC. It will also hide the cmd screen.
So the modified .bat file will look similar to:

Now run the XBMC.vbs to start XBMC. You can of course make a shortcut to XBMC.vbs on desktop and if you want change an icon so it will have an icon from XBMC.

Just have it running all the time.

i use ServiceEX so i can start boblight with windows and keep it running no matter what.Some times when using boblight with my enigma box or android app ,it crashes so ServiseEX run it again and keep it alive.

With Win 7 / 8 (dont know if Vista or even XP) you can do that without additional software.

I have a few questions, on your OP you gave a link to the "LEDStream for SM16716 LEDs". I ordered the SM16716's from ebay the other day, this is just code to test the lights correct?
I noticed people had issues with the name and type fields in the conf file, do you have suggestions for what I should use for the sm16716 leds?
