What is the advantage of using an SQL based pvr like Mediaportal over a non-SQL based pvr like NextPVR?

If there isn't much difference, then NextPVR seems the way to go. Install was perfectly simple... No real setup, just install.

huh, both mediaportal and nextpvr use sql.

nextpvr uses sqlite (still sql)
mediaportal uses mysql (and i believe it works with sql server as well)

oic. I have to admit, I know nothing about SQL. I just know that setting up mediaportal required a lengthy SQL setup and NextPVR was just a straight up install.
