Sorry if this is painfully obvious or covered many time before.

Short strings cannot be searched for in the forum's native search tools.

I struck this when searching for 3D and MVC. Very frustrating. However google comes to the rescue.

Simply enter the search into google with the site: tag, eg enter your search term as:

Quote:3d mvc site:forum.xbmc.org

Of course this works with any website that has restrictive searches enabled, or no search capability at all.

Good tip. I use this on quite a few websites that don't allow for short searches.

Indeed, it's what I've been using. We also use custom site search from google that does "site:wiki.xbmc.org" for the wiki, because they do such a better job than MediaWiki's search.
