I am running under a shared mySQL database for various XBMC boxes.

now, if I setup a new box, I need to A- link it to the mySQL database; B- add the various sources; and C- refresh the library when I add the sources.

Otherwise, I have the movies/music available, but not its associated arts.
Now, scanning for the database isn't that dramatic being that I can export it from a valid box first (using nfo and tbn files)

but doesn't it defeat the purpose of having a centralized database??
Or maybe I am doing something wrong?

Shouldn't there be a centralized art file database that goes with the centralized files and centralized information base?
Your using Eden I presume. Frodo takes care of this.
You are right, I'm on Eden. I am unsure when I'll migrate to Frodo. There's a few addons I use from Eden that - from what I have read so far: I'm no frodo expert yet - haven't finished their transition to Frodo just yet. XWMM being the only media manager I find that uses XBMC under mySQL efficiently (trough one XBMC box) and not being Frodoized yet is the biggest roadblock at this point.

How will Eden-Frodo transition go regarding multiple boxes under mySQL?
