I opened a pull request that includes commits to add EPG functionality to JSON-RPC: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/3389
It is only basic, but I would like to see someone who uses JSON-RPC comment on the way I decided to implement it.
@Tolriq: As a Yatse user I'm really missing EPG functionality in it, which is why I decided to add it to JSON-RPC myself. So your opinion is especially meaningful here.

I Agree. I'm a Yatse user too and this is one serious cherry on the cake if it became possible...

Well thanks to groth-its work, the API now provides access to EPG details so it's "just" a matter of adding it to Yatse.
