Frodo, Release, I have a few tests:

Works right (AAC) - just one example, Flac , Wav and Wma 5.1 properly mapped as well:

While, Ac3 and DTS do not:

http://vetal.ca/Download/xbmc/6_Channel_...51_MKV.mkv

While Left, Right and Center mapped right, Rear left goes via Front left and rear left. Same for the right channel

Worked fine with XBMC 11
Speaker test properly mapping channels. Sound out properly mapped with other player, e.g. VLC where all channels distinct

I use Ubuntu 12.04 x64, GT210 HDMI, NVidia driver 310.19, HDMI connection to LPCM capable receiver

I tried to play with different settings, but no help. Logically, I didn't expect it will be, obviously it is a mix matrix is wrong.

Right now Audio mode is HDMI, 5.1, Audio output is Pulse Audio. Only one option set - "LPCM Capable receiver"

I installed over XBMC 11, didn't clean/wipe Eden off
I really don't know a lot about linux audio stuff, but I believe the trick here is to not use Pulse Audio.

Based on my experience with audio (5 years of audio engineer @ EA), mix is screwed up at the source.

If there is a mix on Master channel (e.g. Pulse) it will not selectively mix on the same content type (channel scheme).
