Hi,
I am running XBMC (12.0 Git:ae08a23) from the https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/xbmc-xvba ppa on Ubuntu 12.10 (i686).
The media center is a Foxconn nt-a3500 with an AMD e350 SOC. XBMC is mostly used for playing music and is running directly on lightdm without any window manager.
Sound output is done via a 2.0 analogue USB soundcard.
Usually everything works fine, however after some time (sometimes a few days, sometimes after half an hour after starting XBMC), the audio on one of the two channels is distorted. A hissing sound appears on top of the heights. Sometimes it is on the left, sometimes on the right channel.
I am not sure, but it might be reproduced by playing a flac and then an mp3 file.
Restarting XBMC fixes the issue. Also, waiting for playback to stop and leaving XBMC idle for a while removes the hiss.
Debug output:
