I've got my movies shared by SAMBA with the following naming convention:

Director/YYYY Movie.avi (where YYYY is the year 19XX or 20XX)

Is there any way I can configure XBMC to access these files without renaming them?

Maybe editing advancedsettings.xml and using moviestacking, or that is only for movies divided in different files?

That is probably going to depend on the scrapper not xbmc.

Every tends to have their own preferred naming method of naming movies but I have found the best for me is 'Movie Name_Year.format" e.g. - "The Dark Knight Rises_2012.mkv"

You can use that if you have a matching NFO file for each movie.
