Hey everybody,

I bought an apple tv 3 but found out that there is no jailbreak avaivable yet.

So i came across a temp. fix for that. There is somewhere a tutorial how you can install XBMC on an ipad and send the WHOLE screen to the apple tv.(i know its not the best solution for that...but that should do it for a while)

So, this is my problem. For android i just find apps where you just can send a video(which is located on the tablet). But i want to send the WHOLE XBMC-Screen to my apple tv as this is possible with the ipad and the bult in ios function "switch screens" (airplay).

So is it possible to use my android tablet as a XBMC host and watch the results on my apple tv? Short: to mirror the whole XBMC content on my android tablet to my apple tv.

It's not just the "whole screen" (generic mirroring), but rather that XBMC for iOS supports the video out APIs and will see an ATV2/3 as a second screen, correctly sized and everything. So basically, we're only able to do it on iOS because Apple provided a method that we could tap into. As far as I know, no one has done this on Android yet. They have done this on desktop OSes, including windows, but that's about it. To be honest, it might just be best to return the ATV3 if you only have Android devices to send content from. It also doesn't look good for an ATV3 jailbreak anytime soon.

My goals are:

- watch kinox.to / movie2k.to on the atv (this is why i wanted xbmc on it (with the xstream / navi-x addon))
- Streaming ALL file formats (wtf was apple thinking that we can't play bluray files (mkv) in a MEDIA CENTER??!!?!?) (not so importmant yet...i just convert them to a mp4 file...so not so necessairy)
- No need for a PC in the background (if i need a pc to stream something to my apple tv, i dont need atv. I could just connect my computer to the beamer...)

any ideas how i can realize this with without any ipad / iphone stuff? Sadly the Jailbreak isn't out yet (or never will be?)

What i got:
- an android tablet (google nexus 7)
- my phone is a samsung galaxy s II.
- Enough skills (im an IT-Specialist / programm developer in C++)

This must be possible somehow :/

p.s. I dont want to return my atv3...i just love the 1080p quality its soooo amazing.

Small push....anyone got a workaround or a attempt to a solution? Would be very nice

Not the best workaround but can you not connect your tablet to your tv through HDMI and have your tv mirroring XBMC this way.

Not ideal but i dont know of any other way to go from android to apple tv via xbmc

Since you would need a hardware ENCODER (not decoder) for doing this - its unlikly that this will work with non-ios devices...

Yatse can do a lot of whst you ask. Add a playercorefactory.xlm file given in a YouTube video ( search yatse xbmc android stream). Tje only problem is that atv still doesnt plsy many types of files
