I have an odd one here...

i would like to share my library to my brother over the internet.

- I have setup Apache
- pointed it to my media directory
- (frodo) added the video source via http

but when i browse the structure i can see the folder layout but none of the videos show? when i go to the same address via my other computer the videos show perfectly?

I feel im missing an important step but im a little out of my comfort zone with Apache, any ideas?

Thanks,

Some setting on web server maybe?
Like this:

humm my setup isn't the same as the provided link but applying the suggested tweaks didn't solve my problem? odd

Instead i switched over to ssh (which i am more comfortable with) and got it working in no time.

My brother is loving it, thanks!

I can tell you from personal experience that files with 49+ characters and certain special characters wont show up on xbmc through HTTP.
I abandoned SSH because it was too slow for larger files
I was planning on doing this myself, however I was going to go down the openvpn route on an Ubuntu server. What setup are you using?

It does if your HTTP server is set up for it.
