I just started ripping my blurays with makemkv and I'm having trouble getting XBMC to crop the black bars on 2.35:1 movies. I have crop black bars enabled and I allow up to 20% distortion to eliminate the black bars however when I play blurays I've ripped with makemkv that are 2.35:1 aspect ratio the black bars are not cropped at all. I used mkvmerge to set the display height and width to 1920 x 800 in the header file but the movie still plays at 1920x1080 leaving black bars above and below the frame. What do I need to do to the mkv file so that XMBC will recognize the black bars and properly crop them?
