Hey guys, first time posting here and hope that I can get a hand with this issue I am having.

I just got a 'new' (to me, but used) Lenovo q180 computer that I am going to connect as a dedicated HTPC to my projector. This system is based on the Atom/AMD platform.

I downloaded the XBMCbutu ISO, burnt it to a CD and did a clean installation. I set it that it should autologin and when it rebooted and tried loading it kept flickering between the XMBC splash screen and the Ubuntu screen, until it bounced me to a login screen.

After a few tired to log in it kept bouncing me back to the login screen. So I changed where it is logging into and tried and got the XBMCbutu desktop. I browsed around and found a bunch of crash logs - I assume from each crash - in the /home/home folder.

Here is a paste from one of those logs: http://pastebin.com/4n2ynbFr

Any idea what is going wrong?

I would like to note that I am a complete newb when it comes to anything not 'windows' and would love for it work out of the box.

Any help would be most appreciated and thanks for it in advance!
What AMD graphics chipset does it have? AMD have recently abandoned some older (not that old really) chips in terms of drivers.
I have this system if you just using it as media player then I would recommend using the Arctic build of Openelec 3.0 for this. I tried XBMCBuntu but had big issues with getting even to install n this hardware. Tried the generic build of openelec and that had issues with frame drops and audio dropouts. After a while and many test builds the great team of Openelec recommended using the Arctiv build as it uses similar components and cards and its steady as a rock.

I have a NAS with my media files and I just bought a network cable tuner that I plan to use as well. Will I have any problems with that?

I dont know what all those things you mentioned are. Is it easy to install? Any guides for it?

The q180 has this AMD Radeon HD 6450A graphics chipset.

Yes should be ok with that as it support PVR functionality but best check on the OpenElec site www.openelec.tv

Yes its failry simple to setup, it basically makes your system like a dedicated mediaplayer device as they os is hidden away its still linux but a pared down one just using what is needed for XBMC and you never have to really access it apart from via ssh terminal in to the machine for some tweaks. This you can do easily from windows using an app called putty. I am not that great with Linux myself so its a perfect partner.

If you go their website it explains it all. There is a little tweaking to be had under the hood to make the gfx card display correctly like you would do in Catalyst Control centre.
I just wanted to give a little update. After two hours of reading how to work with Linux I found out how to install the drivers for the chipset provided by AMD... and voila, XBMC loaded right up without any issues.

Now I seem to be having some other issues; My wired network connection no longer works - but wi-fi does, and for some reason I cannot see my NFS enabled NAS (Cisco NSS6000). If I am not mistaken - the older XBMC worked pretty good straight out of the box. Any tips?
