I posted my build over at the unraid forum and they were unsure about the mysql requirements for xbmc. My build will have a Celeron G1610 and 2 GB of ram. If I only plan on serving media and using mysql to keep my 3 xbmc clients in sync, is this sufficient?
seeing as how it doesn't have to play anything, you shouldn't need that much power
my nas has a less powerfull cpu and it works without any trouble
it hosts both my MySQL database and my files
How low? I was going with the asus c60m1-I but was told it's too weak.

What about ram?
the one i have is
http://www.synology.com/products/spec.ph...#p_submenu
though i rarely use that much of the CPU
you barely need any power to host files and databases, specially if you don't run raid
though it's always nice to have more when you need to change something or setup in general
mysql uses very very minimal resources on my unraid box

c60 is plenty for unraid, many run it with 1GB ram, but to be on the safe side, get 2GB and you're golden

the addons on unraid that use a lot of resources are:
a) anything that transcodes such as plex or airvideo
b) any virtual machines through virtualbox or vmware
