I have managed to get through issues one by one with running XBMCBuntu on the ATV1 with Frodo 12.1. It includes getting all hardware support such as remote, sound, component or HDMI video. As most of the info on installing on ATV1 is outdated, I thought it might be useful to have it updated for Ubuntu 12.04, and variants like Mint 13
I have not made a step by step guide rather a general guide for users with some linux knowledge.
