Hello I have Linux mint 14 kde and xbmc frodo. I'm new to both. I've followed several guides and have not been successful in getting thumbnails, artwork, fan art, cover art to show up. I also can not get any movie information to display as there are none. This applies to any movie on my computer. I would appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction.

Have you scanned them into the library?

If so and it still doesn't work you will need to post a debug log (wiki)

I have added my video source and I see individual folders for each movie. What exactly do you mean by scan?
