So I know nothing about video encoding or the difference between an mkv and an avi ... but I have a simple question:
I've tried playing an .mkv file (Dimensions: 1920 x 1080 Codec: H264) on my Intel i5 powered dell laptop running xbmc under ubuntu 12.04 and it works just fine.
Tried copying the file onto the hard drive of the Revo RL70 - powered by AMD E450 1.65GHz - and it stutters something awful.
Here's the simple question ... Excuse my ignorance but is that purely down to the chip power or is it something else?
btw, I can stream an .mkv file (Dimensions: 1280 x 720 Codec: H264) from the Dell laptop to the Revo and it plays just fine.
Any enlightenment gratefully received.
