Full Version: No HDMI sound in lubuntu with NVIDIA Drivers

I posted this in Development, AudioEngine Linux but I didn't have answer. I hope to have more luck in this subforum.

Hi.

I have a HTPC with XBMC 12.1, NVIDIA drivers 310.40 and Lubuntu 13.04 Beta 1. The graphics card is Asus GT620-DCSL-2GD3, 8 GB RAM and Intel Celeron G1610T.

The set works without problem if I connect it to TV (Panasonic VT50) using the HDMI of graphics card, however if I connect it to my Yamaha RV-X1900 AV receiver, there is not sound.

I probed with Lubuntu 12.10 and NVIDIA drivers and the result was the same. I installed 13.04 because the kernel is 3.8 , I read it has a better support of HD audio and the version of the drivers is 310.40. Also, I tried to use mplayer from command line using alsa and the result was the same.

I looked in /proc/asound/card1 alll looks normal:

I actived the debug log option in XBMC: http://pastebin.com/ztEFENZi . But I don't know there is something bad.

Can someone help me?

All help is appreciate.

Thanks in advance.
Let's make him a Marantz :-)

Get me: cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | pastebinit please

Put the following config to /etc/X11/xorg.conf (you might have to change all DFP-0 to DFP-1 or whatever you see from your Xorg.0.log)
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=SmeVXBDM

And also put the marantz.bin (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/55728161/marantz.bin) to /etc/X11/marantz.bin
(make sure it has exactly 256Byte after Download)

Warning: This file assumes your TV can do 1920x1080@60hz

Many thanks for your help.

I probed with the xorg.conf and the marantz but I don't have sound, still.

The Xorg.0.log is:

http://paste.ubuntu.com/5690849/

The Xorg.0.log only with the nvidia driver (without xorg.conf):

http://paste.ubuntu.com/5690830/

Best regards.
And xbmc.log please with the Marantz plugged in and powered on:
Quote:m_displayNameExtra: DEL LUMAGEN on HDMI #3

This was with your TV only?

OK, I will upload it when I arrive to home at night.

No, I have connected the AVR to a Lumagen Mini and this to TV.
I activated the debug option in XBMC and with xorg.conf and marantz.bin, this is the result:

http://paste.ubuntu.com/5693937/

Thanks.
m_displayNameExtra: MJI marantz-AVR on HDMI #3 <- all is there as thought.

Where is the Problem? Make sure to use this output device.

Also get me:
DISPLAY=:0 /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc-xrandr | pastebinit
and
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | pastebinit

Btw. the 3.8 kernel is not relevant for you, as your nvidia card does the whole work. Make sure you don't have any filters enabled on your AVR, set input to "Direct" or "Straight".

The problem looks resolved.

I changed the HDMI cable and it is working by the moment. Before, I had proved with two different HDMI cables (one of them the HDMI cable I use when I connect HTPC direct to TV) and the problem was not resolved. Those two cables are working without problem.

The only different among those cables and the new, it is the olds are 1.3 and the new is 1.4a.

The only explication I have there is some incompatibility among the card and the old cables.

Thanks for your help.
