I've just updated the addon.xml so the gui version number is increased <import addon="xbmc.gui" version="5.13.0" />   and its working fine for me.
I tried <import addon="xbmc.gui" version="5.13.0" /> for KODI vs 17.6, but KODI disables the addon saying it's incompatible. So it didn't work. Is there a way to see what I should change this to? How did you figure this out, for future reference, to keep this addon working in future builds or previous ones? Thanks

Once Leia is out I will try to update it, but I have little time to spend on it nowadays because of my full time job. This means I probably won’t be adding new features for quite a while.
As I see now there is not a lot that is changing API wise, so the update should be relatively painless, as jeffski10 has pointed out. I will attempt to push a new version when Leia is released, or at least soon afterwards.

That's odd, as that's the only change I needed to make as the python versions etc are the same.  It worked fine for me - was installed so just made the change, restarted and enabled.  There are some errors in the debug log about the settings file being old format but otherwise it seems to behave.
Hi! I'm using Janitor with non English library movies. It cleans files, but can't clean library.
Can you help me with this issue?

I can't do anything without some form of logging I'm afraid.

I got it working in beta 2 for now

I downloaded the zip file from github ( https://github.com/Anthirian/script.service.janitor )
then changed  <import addon="xbmc.gui" version="5.14.0" />  in addon.xml
Make sure you put the changed addon.xml back into the zip file
then installed it by using the zip file
worked like a charm.

This worked perfectly for me too, thank you!
Anthirian, I would just like to say how grateful I am for your app. Of all the media players out there Kodi is the only one I use, and it is because of your program (Janitor).
I have used Janitor for years and have relied on it to remove my media after I have finished watching it. I only have a small amount of storage space on my NAS and I would have quickly run out of it without the help of your program.
I believe that all these media players should have your program or some form of it built in as I think it should be a core component of any player. Why they do not include it as an on/off option is unknown, but I do not see why anyone would want to keep every show/movie they own forever especially the daily shows people watch. I know there is a manual way to remove media but it is a long winded method. I see from the last post it can now be used with Kodi 18 beta 2, so i'm off to have a look.
Again, thank you so much for your addon.
Regards
Alan.
+1 for the thanks.

I've uploaded a working version to: @Karellen- Link removed
@idfkd

Could you explain your link? Why have you uploaded a version to that file hosting site, when the add-on is available from a safer github location?

If a good explanation is given, I will reinstate the link.
hi, im having a pretty serious issue with this addon, while using libraries on a network share, ALL EXLUSIONS ARE IGNORED... i lost a few full seasons of stuff i was keeping

The way the addon is coded, it uses JSON to identify exclusions, using 'contains' in the filter so you don't actually need the whole file path in there. The Kodi dialog forces you to select a folder, but what I've done is go into userdata\addon_data\script.service.janitor and change the settings.xml file to just use the folder name without any of the path info. You can change the values in quotes, for example <setting id="exclusion1" value="PUT FOLDER NAME HERE" />

Doing this, I was actually able to exclude multiple folders with one setting. I put the value "Kids" in the exclusion value (not sure if case sensitive), and it excludes any folders with kids in the name, I have folders named "Kids TV" and "Kids Movies" which don't get touched.
thanks heaps for the info, i'll get on it
thx that worked perfectly, is there anyway to get the cleaning log to display what it deleted? kodi 18 on shield tv
It still logs everything, but doesn't display... not sure how to get it to display properly in Kodi, but if you need to see it you can view it manually.
