Hello,

I have a Samba Server running Ubuntu Server this is connected to the LAN via ethernet

I have a Laptop running Ubuntu Desktop on the WIFI.

I have a XBMC running XBMCbuntu connected via ethernet.

My router is only 100Mbs and I'm transfering files between XMBC Desktop and File server at 10MB/s which is good. And I'm transfering files from Server and XBMC Desktop to Laptop at equally slow speeds but nothing out of the ordinary.

Movies playing from the SSD of the XBMC play instaneously from XBMC frontend.

If I stream 1080p file from the Server to the Laptop this plays perfectly and with very little load time.

If however I try to play a file from the Server, XBMC Frontend hangs for about a minute or so, whilst everything freezes, then the "egg timer" appears and CPU activity hangs around 50% switching between CPU0 and CPU1 and memory 1.7GB/1.9GB which doesn't change at all. Eventually the whole thing times out and I get the message;

"Playback failed
One of more items failed to play.
Check the log file for details. ".

Here's my debug file;

Similar things happen when trying to clean the database, add new files, navigating through the samba folders takes ages too.

Any theories?
