Hi, i want to build a htpc, and have read so many pages my brain is hurting now lol.

what i want is
A htpc which can stream full bd iso (all main movie only 25-30gb files) from a nas
Can passthrough dts hd-ma and dolby true hd
also would like it to start up straight into xbmc so it's wife and child friendly
what would you guys/girls recommend as a minimum setup for this?

I have a popbox 3d as a streamer already, works great with everything i mention above. but i just love the xbmc
software and skins.

Might look into Openelec. You should be able to build/buy something very cheap that will do what you want.

What type of specs eg processor, ram, mobo etc will I need

Do you have a budget? Cheapest possible? Form factor? Optical drive?

I'm willing to spend about £100-£150, small form factor, and without a optical drive

Celeron NUC is probably your closest bet for a good experience. Add 2 GB ram and spare USB drive to boot Openelec from. I'm not familiar with UK computer sites, so you might search around for a good deal on a Celeron NUC.
