Full Version: Audio gaps in older avi's and youtube

I recently updated my ubuntu box from xbmc version 11 to 12. Everything runs smoothly apart from the audio on my older video files. The video plays fine but the the audio has periodic silent spots or gaps where it will just go silent for a second and then come back. I've also noticed that it happens with everything I play from youtube via xbmc.

Any ideas? I've already made sure the files are ok by playing them on another machine, and would have thought it was a codec issue but then I wouldn't have expected it to have an issue with youtube. So I'm not sure what to check.

Thanks
Started trying to get more info on the ones that are having problems, I'll edit this post to update as I come across them.

avi file giving a gap in the audio every minute or so is using mp3 for audio.
