I would like to have a section for movies and tv. That’s no problem, I figured out how to do that. I also have a whole folder for children’s movies. I even figured out how to add that to my main menu..and I also got the content on it..and all the movies showed up correctly. However these movies also showed up in my “main movies’ section. Is there any way to keep the two sepereate?

Especially this same question must have been asked about a thousand times already. Since you are new I'll be a friendly mod and answer you.
Basically what you do is to create 2
smart playlist (wiki)s:
#1: type = movies and path contains <childrensmoviesfolder>
#2: type movies and path contains <parentsmoviesfolder>.
Now use a skin that allows you to change the main menu screen. Many skins allow this. If you want to use confluence there is a modded version available that can do this.
- Remove the ' movies' link
- Add a link to #1, call it Kid movies
- Add a link to #2, call it Adult movies
