Hello,

First off i'm a complete newbie with Ubuntu, but hey gotta start somewhere right? Tried to get sound over HDMI working but got stuck, removed pulse-audio in the process and now I don't have any sound in XBMC. The strange thing is however that when I open the terminal sound works??

I tried the following commands:

sudo killall pulseaudio
sudo apt-get purge pulseaudio pulseaudio-utils gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio libpulse-browse0 paman pavumeter pavucontrol
sudo mv /etc/asound.conf /etc/asound.conf-bak
rm ~/.pulse-cookie
rm -r ~/.pulse

Reboot. Then install:
sudo apt-get install alsa-base alsa-tools alsa-tools-gui alsa-utils alsa-oss alsamixergui libalsaplayer0

I checked to see is the Master and PCM are unmuted and they are but I still wont get sound in XBMC or XBMCbuntu.
Like I said Im new at this and a bit of a newbie, I think I messed things up at this command: sudo apt-get purge gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio, but Im not sure.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post any help is welcome Smile
