A couple of requests I do have though would be:
Settop box mode - It would be nice if this functioned similar to the Live TV functionality. E.g. it loads up the epg/channel data when XBMC starts and continues to update in the background so you have 0 delay switching in and out of the main menu, epg and channels. It would also be nice if Pseudo TV kept playing when you went back to the menu until you start something else.
EPG Colouring - Would be nice to specify this as an option per channel so I can colour all my live tv channels one colour etc and playlist channels another etc.
EPG Categories/Size - An option to increase the amount of channels per page and assign channels to sub categories would be cool e.g. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3402/3408...473f8e.jpg
Handling multiple strm fails - atm on some of my tv show channels I have some shows missing with missing dead strms for entire series and if it fails a bunch of episodes in a row I get playback failed which results in pseudoTV becoming unresponsive.
Settop mode - this is basically how it was designed, once enabled it turns on autostart, so that it loads with xbmc... and will run on a hourly update schedule not a daily one. It's a little buggy right now I would wait for final release.
epg coloring - already have this change from genre to chtype.. each chtype ie (livetv, internettv, local, etc) will have its own color
epg cat/size - not interested in sub cat's or limited channels by cat. I will be adding some new overlay features like a sidebar that will bring up a quick list of whats "on" now...
Error handling - I actually have a pretty good one setup, but I think because I don't document how to handle errors users jump the gun. The safest way to use pseudotv live is with strms or actual media files. Strms allow for redundancy that are in place. for example if you have two sources for the same stream, if you place both in one file, Pseudotv will automatically play the working one. If both fail a backup file is played to keep pseudo from bugging out.
If your not using strm's I have a dead link catcher that will avoid building a channel that has dead links... since I can't catch them all I have a script in place that will either try skipping through the next three shows on the list, if that fails Pseudotv should change the channel automatically.
Since we are dealing with internet sources depending on connections speeds and latencies this process can seem slow, making users think Pseudotv has failed...
I think the community lists are a great idea, I just don't have any desire to have a couple hundred channels running one show each. The way I have it set up now with USTVnow channels, new movie channels, kids movies channels, a kids YouTube channel, and genre based TV channels via 1channel is perfect. If there were community channels that had mixed tv shows and movie channels that would be different, but I don't see any way to do that without physically adding shows to a YouTube playlist and constantly updating it by hand, and adding it to the community list myself. Very tedious work…
Correct me if I'm wrong?

ianuk2005 what tuner are you using? Strm files?

copied the xmltv.xml file to the local c:\ drive and it worked.
if i place the file anywhere else (like on the network) it will say in "waiting for file lock" and in the log i get:
WindowsError: (123, 'The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect', 'smb://SERVER/Temp/xmltv.xml')
no matter what OS i am trying to use. i tested this on windows and openelec.
any ideas?
Weird, I'll check it out... That was fixed along time ago...
let me know when this is resolved and i will test it,

I've already discussed the new network type community list...

I made some changes that should fix it... next update will include it. Anyone running v.0.4.0 will auto update when new code is pushed.
I wasn't around for that convo apparently. How far back?

I also use PTVL to create live channels and mixed content channels. The community list would allow us to share content configurations that are category (e.g. History, Science, Comedy.etc.), show, or genre driven. You should consider the benefits and join up. If you want to see more channel streams or specific content streams; sign up and share what you have, it may inspire others to share there content. There are already a lot of great contributions on the list.
Oh and to your mixed content comment, creative use of interleaving channels or using plugins easily solves that issue.

You guys are outdated on your info... this has be discussed and a new network type channel list was added, either read posts a few pages back or readme at community list.
Thank you. I will check it out.

I always only use one strm file for each episode/movie, if i get 3-5 (hard to tell) fail in a row sometimes it switches channel but most the time it just bombs out and i get a weird transparent overlap from pseudotv and have to restart xbmc. If my live tv channels fail they seem to go to a backup youtube playlist. How do I get pseudo to play a backup file if a strm fails?
I think the chtype colouring is good but it would nice to be able to set it on a per channel basis as everyone might want it different. for example I have both movie playlist channels and tv episode playlists which both get coloured the same =P.
I think the sub cat's would be a useful feature but only if you have 100+ channels =)
Also I'm going to look into that community list stuff, maybe I can contribute.

I'm using NextPvr which you can use the plugin directly or you can also generate strm files as it has the web server built in. I've not tested it fully but i'm assuming it's going to be possible to use the strm files with secondary xbmc clients.

Nextpvr Web service to generate strm files. Hmm. I don't remember that from when I used it. Will take a look.

I use NextPVR, works great with the PVR autotune once you rename all nextpvr backend channels to match the "display-names" in xmltv file
Git Updated, let me know how the self updating feature works out.

Updated to 4.01 on request here and everything seems to work fine. great job

I still can't seem to get autotune working for nextPvr even after renaming the backend channels in to match the xmltv =p
Also some info on easily making strm files from nextPvr here:
