I thought stream validation was added to check for this?

The reason I don't want to remove them is for in case I ever subscribe to all 30 USTVnow channels.

stream validation, as far as i'm aware, and i'm sure it was you that quoted, is not 100% atm. The links exists, it does not work checking if they play something. Delete them via the in-app manager. takes 30seconds per channel to re add them via the in-app manager incase that scenario ever arrises.

Autotune is NOT for custom specific channel set ups, it gives you some nice channels and shows you the potential channels you can have. If you want to have a specific set up or start to alter, use the in-app manager.

Times are tough, it's in short supply.
A few days ago I mentioned slow performance without much evidence, however I've done some looking into the code and some brief debugging to try to figure out what is going on.

My HTPC is an older laptop which I originally experienced sluggish epg performance on.

I have since done a fresh install of KODI and pseudotv live only on my desktop: i7 4770K overclocked with intel 530 SSD and 16 GB ram. to make sure that the problem wasn't that my system was just too slow.
Well even with a fresh install, and one of the quickest consumer systems available I experience significant lag in the EPG.

To further debug. I disabled Dynamic artwork in settings.xml. ,disabled debug logs, only used local content that has all information and images, no color, no extra info, default skin. I limited to the minimum 50 items per channel and created 13 channels.
Even with this configurations the epg takes about 0.5 - 1 second to flip channels back and forth, and a full 2-3 seconds when you change the channel beyond what is visible in the epg already. ie(scroll all the way to bottom of list)

Here are my debug logs as proof time stamps shown on the side: Again this taken with the above configuration (13 channels limited to 50, no artwork on desktop system etc.)

Logs:
Scrolling all the way down: taking 2-3 seconds as shown by timestamps http://pastebin.com/GfkmihYd
pressing left in the menu highlight an already visible option: http://pastebin.com/vtHASKt0 Takes 0.5-1 seconds shown by timestamps
**note** the epg is about the same speed with debug logs both on and off, there is a negligible difference

When i use my HDHomerun on my HTPC, with dynamic art, etc, everything takes an additional second or two. I figured i would isolate the problem to begin with though with everything disabled, as performance is still slow

I've eliminated most of the variables that I know of, and I've begun digging in the code to see what could be taking so long, but I figured i would bring this to your attention first.

When I choose "Find USTVnow" an error comes up behind the autotune screen and shows that "you talkin' to me?~taxi driver" caused an error. When I go to the USTVnow add-on I don't have this issue.

You need to read page one. There's no log so there's no chance at all of helping you. Since you havn't posted your issue properly I imagine you may have missed the part on page one that also says you need to use Luna's version of USTVnow? If so try that version.

I did read the 1st page, but did not think downloading his version was necessary since the installer updates USTVnow to Lunatixz 9.9.9. But you are correct I did not post my issue properly and I will correct that.

Just want to note that I'm experiencing the same thing coming from XBMC over to Kodi. CPU isn't an issue, it's an i5 2500K + Samsung 830 SSD. I don't care for all the bells and whistles as long as the EPG is fast and I've disabled all that I can.

I end up getting stuck in the EPG because of the lag; its actually easier for me to change channels than to use the EPG to do so.

Now that I think about it, I think I started noticing slowdown about the time I upgraded to Kodi as well. I experience the same thing, changing channels is faster than flipping through the epg itself. Maybe if I get the time this weekend I'll try reverting to Gotham and see how it affects performance.

lol. That made me laugh.

Actually what I think I'm going to do is add the "DO NOT SHOW" rule for each channel.

just edit the settings2.xml file, copy and paste the channels for an offline.txt file. done. when you want to use the copy/paste them back in. no need to make this more difficult than it actually is. over thinking it

I appreciate the help, but observing log times won't be helpful. I suspect that the new artwork code isn't universally as fast as it is on my end. I've made some tweaks, tonights update focuses on bug fixes and performance tweaks. Please reserve judgement till you have time to use the new version. Caching is important, the more you use PTVL the faster it will become....
FWIW...
I'm seeing the Guide slowness as well. I'm still on XBMC Gotham on my primary machine, so I'd say it's not Kodi specific. I saw a large improvement yesterday switching the background updating from 'on' to 'minimum use' - the improvement lasted for a short time, and is now back to the point of 2 or 3 seconds between movements - but today it looks to be very much artwork related. As soon as the image for the current show loads in the guide, it switches to the next key press. Meanwhile in the guide, I'm not seeing the scrolling ticker underneath or the images of shows airing today above the guide - all that is just gone...

Channel browsing isn't bad (channel up/down) - however, trying to enter a channel number on my remote, I'm seeing 2 seconds between button press recognition.
Hey guys, is there a "community" thread for PTVL where users can ask each other questions and share setup ideas and so on without disturbing Luna on this thread?

Like, I would like to know if I can add a M3U file as a channel, but I can not find the answer anywhere, I can see how to add it to the PVR, but Google as I may, I can't find how to add to PTVL.

I'd rather keep everything under one house, Im not bothered by posts... and will participate when I can. I'm only bothered when users ignore the topic rules Smile

In-app channel configuration for m3u lists is coming soon.

You need to add it using the internettv chtype.

There is no separate thread for such things (at least not on this forum), but there is a community list which can be autotuned or simply browsed by following the link on the first page of this thread.

If you have any interesting channel setups please add them to the community list for others to enjoy. Internet TV is fairly lacking right now on the list.
Sweet, well there are just a ton of free M3U streams offered from networks. "Cartoon Network Reboot" for example. They make it easy to incorporate right into Kodi via the PVR service. They would make great channels for PTVL. I am sure there is a way to do this? But I've only been using PTVL this way for like a week now.
