When I hit the select button on my remote, PTVL brings up the blank EPG background and it takes 10-15 seconds to populate the programs and logos. Navigating through the channels is slow. Moving between the 6 channels showing on the guide aren't too bad but there is about .5 second lag. Trying to navigate to a channel off screen is worse and the lag can vary between 2-5 seconds usually. If I make the mistake of trying to navigate to my music videos channel (folder based), forget it. We're talking minutes. Sometimes up to 10 or so. Even exiting is problematic as it sits on removing file locks for at least 30 seconds or more. All my channels are based on local network content. No internet streaming.
Here is my log: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=65...file%2clog
I do see a bunch of "ERROR: XFILE::CFile::Rename - Error renaming file smb://WOPR/xbmc_stuff/PTV Live Shared Channels/cache/FileLock.dat" messages. Are they my problem? Would really love to get this sorted out and get back my reliable PTVL.
Send me your settings2.xml

I've set PTVL on Linux 64 bit in the settings and tried with setting tv show directories and with autotune option, both instances result in a "failed" error when I try to run PTVL. I've done multiple installs / uninstalls with resets between to try to get it to work with no success. Any ideas? I'm on Openelec 5.05 Do I need to update librtmp.so if I'm using Openelec 5.05?

Check the version of metahandler you have installed

Set OS to Raspberry Pi, should auto configure PTVL to Optimal settings.
Try using PseudoTV Lite?

I know it's because a lot of folks complain about the EPG being slow. But I really dislike being forced to see youtube mulichannels as stacked is there any way possible you could make the stacking feature opt out, like have stacking on by default and maybe do an advance setting to disable it.
Thanks for everything
Angel
Sorry, this won't be changed... Any Youtube media under 15mins will be stacked... You can still see what is playing by scrolling left or right.
any chance that the
TV Catchup (blxd edition) can be supported by PTVL?
I tried adding the streams directly, but they streams seem to update via the plugin to get a new token. If i add them thru the PTVL channel mamanger, it gives me a link with a token for that time, so in aprox 30mins it will be invalid. Is there a way around this or could PTVL be updated to add support?

Support isn't on my end... you need to speak with the plugin developer.

Alright, just wondered if there was a way to call the plugin, and not the link. Ill check in the other thread. Cheers.

If this video plugin requires special tokens and proxy control, then it should return a plugin link for PTVL to use not a direct feed link...
Again... all of which I have no control over, The video plugin has to return the proper links...

OK Here is what I have tested here:
1: Deleted the .kodi directory from my user home directory (/home/xbmc/.kodi)
2: Started Kodi and let it update the addons that come with Kodi
3: Enabled Debug and reboot
4: Let the system idle after i rebooted and watched the screensaver start
Code:
17:51:23 T:140070523598784 DEBUG: CAnnouncementManager - Announcement: OnScreensaverActivated from xbmc

5: Installed your repo and then installed PTVL and its dependencies (and wow lots of dependencies )
6: let system idle and the screensaver started
7: Setup some PTVL config (no channels, just options enabled) and tried to start it but was told system reboot, so rebooted
8: Let system idle on reboot and the screensaver didnt start
9: Waited 10 min and the screensaver still didnt start.
10: I removed PTVL and didnt reboot. The screensaver started on time 3 minutes later
Log for steps 4-7 - http://xbmclogs.com/ps6mlh48i
log for steps 8-10 - http://xbmclogs.com/p5bn3qzda
Please let me know if there is anything else you need from me

Morning Luna
Thanks for your latest update! Appreciate the work you do! The issue that I mentioned earlier is still present in 0.5.9. I did my latest test on an USB stick running KODIubuntu, so nothing would be installed by myself to cause conflicts. Here is my steps in this test:
1: Turned on debug and rebooted the machine
2: Changed screensaver from dim to euphoria ( i can test other screensavers but it was observed with dim and euphoria)
3: Waited and watched the screensaver start
4: Installed your repo and PTVL
5: waited and watched the screensaver start
6: Because i always have to reboot after an upgrade/install of PTVL so i rebooted here
7: Waited and the screensaver didnt start....had a shower and came back and it still hadnt started
At this point I havent even ran PTVL nor configured anything else in Kodi or PTVL.
Steps 2-5: http://xbmclogs.com/paa5gzozc
Step 7: http://xbmclogs.com/ppk4mbr4f
Please let me know if there is anything else you need from me. From this test, i cant see it being any other addon that I would have installed that is causing this issue.
Cheers!
I've exhausted possibilities, the code as written should not keep your system from idling. On every Kodi and PTVL instance I run... No idling problems...
The entry in your log that concerns me is the line below. It is not generated by PTVL, but Kodi. Do you have any wake-lan settings enabled in Kodi? Perhaps this is a power system bug between kodi and your hardware?
Code:
17:48:53 T:140011287377856 DEBUG: UPower: Received an unknown signal DeviceChanged
Thank you for taking the time to look into this. I have this issue on 3 machines. 2 are identical hardware (the logs is from one of these) and 1 is my server running Mythbuntu. I can duplicate the issue on all three machines.
I will try to do more digging to see if its something in my environment doing this, but i cannot think what at the moment. Its very strange that others aren't having this issue and I have it happening on all my devices.
Those errors look like the happen in the first log too, when the system idled properly before PTVL install....so i dont know for sure if they are the cause.
Cheers!

As a quick note. I uninstalled PTVL and installed PTVL Lite on my USB Live Kodibuntu and the screensaver is working properly

Is there a way to download EPG data from another source, and have the links from the episodes launch a plugin directory?

Ive found that when a channel has no image and defaults to the tv icon (landscape.png) it causes the the epg to lag bad. I've tested it on windows systems only, but it causes massive cpu spikes. When that particular channel is removed it runs a lot better. Its definitely not hardware issue as ive tested with a older dual core, and a more recent quad core cpu and got similar results. Not saying its on your end of things, but possibly kodis.

The project objective is to replace your cable box... At this point i'm not interested in building up "off and on" features. Users can run this plugin casually, but it's designed to run all the time...
If you are a casual users and don't like waiting for PTVL to load each time, just turn of "Automatic" channel reset, and choose something longer, every week? Also turn on background updating.
the exact opposite, im not a casual user, im a heavy one
thats why i want all my home units to work in sync,
my xmbc machines (living room, kids computer, bedroom android...) are closed during daytime, after the kids coming back from school or i come back from work we start them up, my server is up 24/7, i want my server to do all the caching/updating and the other will read from it, and its working great!
my only problem is that the server wasnt meant to run videos, he doesnt have video card or monitor attached, but it has a built in speaker that woke me up after starting PSTL videos ,
my solution is to run it manually every day or two and configure all the slaves to uptate on a week basis with background updating.
thanks anyway luna
I was thinking about doing the same. One solution is setting PTVL to auto shut down after an hour or so. Then using another plugin like schedular to auto run PTVL every x hours/days. If you run PTVL in set top box on the server box it wont update other plugins ect so that is a decent enough way to do it. Also you would need to create a channel 999 or something, and on the PTVL server have it set to start on channel 999, then make channel 999 a looping youtube video of something, maybe a fireplace/fishtank. Or a local video file, as to not hammer your bandwith or use up a tv tuner.
hey luna,
can you please add to "auto off timer" an option for 1 min or so in order just to update the channels?
or even better an option to just update the channels on kodi startup like iptv simple or lazytv does?
thanks
btw latest version 0.5.9 works for me better than ever
