The entry in your log that concerns me is the line below. It is not generated by PTVL, but Kodi. Do you have any wake-lan settings enabled in Kodi? Perhaps this is a power system bug between kodi and your hardware?
Code:
17:48:53 T:140011287377856 DEBUG: UPower: Received an unknown signal DeviceChanged
Thank you for taking the time to look into this. I have this issue on 3 machines. 2 are identical hardware (the logs is from one of these) and 1 is my server running Mythbuntu. I can duplicate the issue on all three machines.
I will try to do more digging to see if its something in my environment doing this, but i cannot think what at the moment. Its very strange that others aren't having this issue and I have it happening on all my devices.
Those errors look like the happen in the first log too, when the system idled properly before PTVL install....so i dont know for sure if they are the cause.
Cheers!
@wyild1 Don't feel alone as I am having the same problem. Kodi will not start screensaver or suspend when PTVL is installed. I am running on OPenElec 5.5 using Aeon MQ 5 Helix mod. What skin are you testing with? If I remove PTVL screensaver and suspend work as expected.
I have tested with the Confulnce default skin and Rapier and have the same issue with both.

You guys need to read my changelogs...
From the changelog:
"EPG Artwork disabled until Art Spooler is finished."
Cmon man of course I read your changelog...it's not like I just started using PTVL.
I am just trying to bring to your attention that perhaps the artwork spooling system isnt working exactly as intended. Personally I've had it take nearly 15 minutes to even begin spooling and then another 20-30 minutes to complete the process. If this is working as intended that is one thing, but I believe this must be a bug and was just trying to make you aware of it since I know you are always trying to fix bugs when reported.
Again, I'm not hating or complaining, but when the latest update came out and this issue persisted, I thought it was worth mentioning incase it had been an oversight.
I mentioned the same issue a few times but did not get a reply. I started to wonder if I was the only one affected by it. Glad to see I'm not.
For me, every time ptvl updates even a single channel (which is just about every time I start it), artwork spooler runs for over 20 min and during that time ptvl can not exit. It gets stuck on the exiting page with the playback screen dimmed (i guess there is a blue screen overlay). It eventually exits after 20 min when the spooler is done if I have that much patience. There is no way to prevent it other than hard rebooting the box.

Do you have system cache enabled? Are you running v.0.5.9
I find it incredibly unlikely that the latest version runs that long.
Would love to see a log consistently showing a 20min spool runtime...
If PTVL ever takes that long, something is obviously wrong.
My setup has 600+ Channels of all chtypes, set to Unlimited media, find missing info enabled. Total parse time usually under 20mins (Set to background mode on ) wait is unnoticeable. Artwork Spooler after first run takes 17s! First run is under 10m...
If your setup has a lot of livetv channels or local media that doesn't have locally stored artwork, disable find missing info and art.
I'm 99% certain that many of the issues experienced are due to improper configurations. V.0.5.9 should not take long to spool artwork. Provide a log and prove me wrong...
he could have tincan internet that maxes out at 56kbps :|

Just kidding
My last log posted on here was with the last of the 0.5.8 releases
I'll get one in 0.5.9 when i get home
Thanks

I hope you do, I can't fix or provide help without logs... You'll just have to trust me when I say, PTVL runs extremely well for me... Short Parsing times, smooth EPG...

It's extremely weird that Kodi won't sleep, PTVL's background service code on all instances I've checked does not hinder Kodi idling...
Can you set your idle time to 1min and tell me if the screen saver starts?

I know right! super weird. Just tested it setting at 1 min and it didnt start still. Issued a windows fix (reboot) and it started! made some movement to see if it would start again and worked again. Moved it from 1 to 2 minutes and it stops working. So somewhere between the 1-2 min mark "something" happens.
My next test will be to leave it in that idle state to see if it shuts off. Screensaver aside, my main problem is that it wont shutoff after 60 min of being idle. I will update after work with my findings.
Hate troubleshooting time problems haha all this waiting!

I know what the problem is... I just don't' understand the cause, why on most instances of Kodi it's fine... but for some it's not.

I am at work right now so I can't provide a log but will once I get home tonight.
However to answer your questions, I will say that I've used the same custom set up since the first version of PTVL and this has never been an issue. In fact, I went back to 5.7F on one of my three installations and the problems were fixed.
On 5.7F everything runs smooth and the artwork spooling worked as expected (ie spooling much quicker with each run)
Just spitballing, but there is a bug with the way interleaved channels artwork is handled, by which I mean internet channels (YouTube for example) do not display artwork when they are interleaved into local content channels--perhaps that is what's causing the increased spool times?
Obviously I have system caching enabled and i am running 5.9...I wouldn't bother you with bugs about old code.
Like I said I'll post a log after I get home tonight.
