I was watching some TV last night on my HTPC and shut down like I normally would with my remote and it shut off fine.
When I went to turn it on today I get the GRUB loader which I never see normally and have to choose Ubunutu to continue as nothing is timing out.
And after that I see the XBMC logo and then a screen for BusyBox V1.19.3 comes up and I can't do anything to bring up XBMC or X.

Does anyone know what happened and to fix it or at least get in so I can back up some files?
Try booting from a live usb stick (or maybe you can do it from busybox, I cant remember) and running

fsck /dev/XXXX

Replace XXXX with the drive you want to try and repair from

fdisk -l
