I'd like to move from Windows Mediaplayer but my photo-Playlists (m3u) do not playback in XBMC Sad

When selecting the m3u-file in XBMC the content of the playlist is shown - even the picture preview in the right lower corner.
But when hiting the Return-key to get the playlist started, XBMC replies with
Quote:Playback failded.
One or more items failed to play.
Check the log files for details.

The log file says - snippet:

The playlist is a m3u-file with simply listing the corresponding files.

I've experienced the same behaviour in Windows XBMC both in RaspBMC.
Version "Frodo 12.2"

I don't want to get a slideshow started - just show one picture after another and trigger the transition to the next by Return key (or similar).

Windows Mediaplayer shows the pictures in the given order.

My goal is a control to decide the order the files (music, pictures, videos) being played.

Hoping this Bug will be solved so that i can move from Windows Media Player to XBMC.

Thanks,

Greg
Welcome to the XBMC forums.

XBMC expects your m3u file to contain paths to music or video files, so the associated player app barfs when it encountered your unexpected image files.

If you hadn't stated that you did not want a slideshow, I would have suggested you use the left slide-out menu to launch a slideshow of your m3u file.

It would be cool, when image files would be accepted to be played directly (by pressing the play button).

A workaround is to select the playlist > context menu "recursive slideshow"

Thx,
