Dear friends,
my music library has a fixed scheme:

/music
|______/flac
|__________/artist
|________________/album
|______/mp3
|__________/artist
|________________/album

With this organization in XBMC (I am using the modified Raspbmc Confluence skin) until I open an artist, I only see a folder graphics but not a specific artwork and it's not very nice to see.

Are there options to show a photo of the artist as a placeholder of the artist directory or to just show all albums in a flat view despite keeping the directory structure on the disk ?

It sounds like you are viewing the music via the files menu rather than in library mode. Have you scanned your music sources into the XBMC library? After doing so, if you run the scraper you should have artist artwork appear when viewing via the Music Library.
