Full Version: Problems decoding Ray (HD-DVD)

Running Frodo (XBMC 12.2 GIT 32b1a5e) on Ubuntu 12.04 with the proprietary Nvidia drivers on my GeForce 9400 based system. Ripped Ray (HD-DVD) w/makemkv. The resultant mkv file plays fine w/vlc on this system. However, with XBMC, I get no audio and just a couple of frames per second (if that) of video.

Complete debug log is here:

It could be related to the EAC3 audio: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=172189

Basically, v12 of XBMC doesn't handle EAC3 gracefully. A temp fix would be to disable AC3 completely under XBMC -> Settings -> System -> Audio output

Assuming it's related to that issue.
Disabling AC3 passthrough cleaned up the audio and its not breaking up. However, a/v sync seems to be very slightly off with this approach. Would this be expected?
Be away that makemkv does not remove the pulldown flag on hd-dvds, so your video will be at 29fps and not 24fps.
So I should probably run through handbrake and clean it up?
Don't know about handbrake (don't use it), I use eac3to to remove the pulldown flag and then mkvtoolnix to merge the video back in to the mkv file.

Finally got around to looking at this issue again. Used eac3to to remove the pulldown flag and mkvtoolnix to re-create the mkv. vlc now reports 24fps. Video still doesn't appear to be playing at the correct frame rate though with XMBC and still no audio. Would it be useful to capture a debug log?

Plex plays correctly on iOS and Android but PleXBMC has the same issue when running inside of XBMC.
Upgrade to v13.1 - nobody is fixing bugs in 12.2 anymore.
