Is there a more stable release than 12.2?

I'm getting _really_ tired of have to go dig up the keyboard to either reboot or restart after having let the media player sit idle for a while.

Anyone else seeing this?

Darwin 10.8.0 on a newer mac mini with the nvidea graphics.
