Kodi/XBMC Master:
• Master changelog
• [PVR] bump add-ons
Newclock4 additions:
• [mmal] Exit preroll when we have some decoded frames
• [omxplayer] Restore flush/accurate seek flags to fix issue with edl skipping
GPU firmware from Oct 17 included:
• dpi: Add options to alter dpi settings through dpi_output_format
• arm_loader: Avoid gpioman spam when POWER_LOW is not defined
To install Kodi/XBMC build, SSH to Pi:
Code:wget -O kodi-14-20141019-nc4.tar.gz http://goo.gl/NUcIMC --no-check-certificate
pv kodi-14-20141019-nc4.tar.gz | tar xzf - -C /home/pi/.upgrade

ln -sfn /home/pi/.upgrade/kodi-14-20141019-nc4/xbmc-bcm /home/pi/.xbmc-current
sudo reboot
See post #1 for more info
Upgrade from kodi-14-20140928-nc4 went fine. However there are a few issues not present in the previous version:
On startup I get a popup dialog saying script failed: housekeeping.py
Reboot from the menu does not reboot the system. I get black screen and then nothing. HTOP show that kodi is not running anymore. But no reboot I have to ssh in and sudo reboot! Here are the last few lines of the log.

Quote:On startup I get a popup dialog saying script failed: housekeeping.pyThis is most certainly an addon that probably needs to be updated for Helix. A debug log will show which one.
Quote:Reboot from the menu does not reboot the system.Known issue. However, I am quite certain that this is a Raspbmc specific issue, and since Helix might never come to Raspbmc I don´t think that this will be fixed.
@all
Been traveling the last couple of weeks so haven´t provided any builds in a while.
I did see the big rebrand-commit which also changed the binary name. Even though I compiled Kodi successfully yesterday (didn´t have time to try it though) I have a feeling that Raspbmc needs to be modified to run properly. This feels quite moot since Helix might never come to Rapsbmc + with OSMC around the corner.
If so I believe that the Helix testing on Raspbmc has come to an end, but I am not in any way certain so I´ll come back regarding this.

If Helix doesn't come to the raspberry pi, will this thread become absolete? To bad because, although there are some bugs, lots of features made my raspberry really worth the investment. Stunned me more then once.

you haven't read what was stated.
It won't come as raspbmc but OSMC (new name raspbmc). So yes this thread will become obsolete only to make a new one using OSMC as thread name.

As said raspbmc will become osmc before helix is released.
If you want to run test builds then openelec has been fixed since the kodi rebranding (see here).
I'm sure the raspbmc/osmc test builds will be working again before long.

Thanks for the answers. Good to know.

Will the audio patches make it to osmc?.

The one you made that upped the voice volume when playing 5.1 files to a stereo audio system.
2014-10-29, 16:04
It´s already included since a long while back, and I think it works really good.
You have this setting in Settings - System - Audio.
Note, the lever is to 100, but I noticed that even 10 was way to much. I have set it to 5 on both my setups which works really well. And I do not use any amplification.
Edit: Ah, you wanted to know if it´s going to be included in OSMC. I am sure that if testing is positive it will be included even if it doesn´t make it into Kodi master.

How is OSMC different from raspbmc if I may ask?
2014-10-29, 17:01
You have some info here: http://forum.osmc.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=23
More specific features here: http://forum.osmc.tv/showthread.php?tid=15102
And here: http://forum.osmc.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=22
And of course here: http://osmc.tv/about/why-osmc/
There are some early test builds you can test, but they are quite old and very early though.
But it might give you a hunch on what´s different, but Kodi is still Kodi even though the default skin/look will be different.

Forgive me if the following assumptions and question seem dumb, I may be missing something fundamental in my understanding. I am a long term XBMC and now Kodi user for probably 10 years. More recently moved most of the clients to Rasberry Pi using RaspBMC as I liked the style and commitment and could not find a native install of xbmc on Raspbian/Debian in the repos. I recently tried a build of XBMC on a native debian installed Model B+ running xfce4 and it installed fine from this repo deb http://archive.mene.za.net/raspbian wheezy contrib using the instructions from this this site http://michael.gorven.za.net/raspberrypi/xbmc. I could then install xbmc using apt-get. After install xbmc ran fine from the menus and also the command line albiet with some PVR addon issues. The installed version was 13.2.
Are there any plans to develop a native raspbian/debian xbmc install? I appreciate that there may need to be firmware updates as well as the dependancies. Just a bit confused as to why the starting point needs to be another distribution i.e. RaspBMC/Openelec etc. When a native install on the underlying OS (Raspbian/Debian) allows dual/multi use of the Pi as a desktop or GPM.
Sorry bit of a ramble!
Cheers
