In your opinion what do you think is the best one, and is there any other alternatives?

I have tried both, I use AL, but really both need a lot of work.

for xbmc, those are the only 2 that work well, and codepony's right: they are both in development. They are both great. Other alternatives for windows include Mediabrowser with Gamebrowser, Hyperspin, GameEX. For linux, um....riiiiiiiiiiight....
