Full Version: Buffering issue when streaming Frodo Ubuntu Quantal

Hi!

I have a constant buffering problem when streaming media from Internet sources. My speed is at about 6 MBps (60 to 80 Mbps) down so there shouldn't be an issue. Video playback is great for local media, however I've noticed youtube or Vevo plugins in xbmc buffer so bad it hangs. I added the "0' value to my advancedsettings.xml file to make sure I can have plenty of buffer, and that helps on Youtube if I pause for a while before watching, but Vevo doesnt use that settings (because it counts as music?).

I see this occur a lot in the xbmc.log:

Thanks for cutting your logfile. It is completely unusable. Set your speakers to 2.0 and retry. Debug Log
Thanks for the quick reply!

my log file is too big for the post, please let me know if there is more info I can provide...
Restart XBMC and it will start over with a new log file.
New log file still to big, made a copy here:

XBMC CPU over 100% at times
- You use advancedsettings that are not in frodo.
- You use pulseaudio which causes issues
- You have a radeon HD4600 - which does not have hw acceleration on default installations.

You need the wsnipex xvba-frodo repository.

You have to keep using fglrx for now as HD4600 has no OSS radeon UVD support
Awesome, thanks for the help!

So far:
-added Ubuntu repo from http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW..._for_Linux, ran update and got updates for xbmc
-removed non-frodo settings from advancedsettings.xml
-tried other audio output devices but none work... Pulseaudio is only way I could get audio over HDMI; is there another way?
-Is there an easy way to revert to fglrx?

Problem still occurring after doing the first 2...

Found a way to revert to fglrx-legacy. I'm going to give it a day before giving up on pulseaudio server (Cheap fix for audio over HDMI)
Well, no luck so far. I did switch out the pulseaudio for a regular analog output. after all these changes, I still have the issue. below are log and debug:

Well, you still have Pulseaudio installed which causes issues, and you haven't selected the HDMI audio output.

Does this buffering issue happen with local files too?
sudo apt-get remove --purge pulseaudio libasound2-plugins

Done.

Issue still occurs on Youtube and Vevo. Local media playback works fine. I have a Drobo 5N that I stream from without issue as well.
Youtube buffering happens even to the best of us.
Well shoot. My guess is that I will have to wait for better add-ons.

I did get youtube working better by changing the quality setting to "Same as Playback". Is there an option like this for Vevo?

Pandora seems to have the same buffering issue now...
