Specifically this:

http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/osx/...x86_64.dmg

this is what I had before:

http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/osx/...x86_64.dmg

It's broken on older avi files with mp3 audio. Works fine with newer mp3 and mkv files.

And, it was working fine on the 20131101 snapshot.

Fails in this, too: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/osx/...x86_64.dmg

UPDATE:

OK, I went back to the original 20131101 and it still doesn't work. IdeasHuh

Yes, default output device is selected (in the newest, optical selected in the 1101 snap).
Most of the builds in the test-builds directory aren't meant to be used like nightly (wiki) or monthly builds (wiki) by normal users. Any and all test builds will show up in that directory, which includes highy experimental builds where devs are just trying to isolate issues and such.

If you are looking for 12.3 test builds, only use the ones with "Frodo" in the name.

OK,thanks. Any ideas on how to get my mp3 audio back, with the original version that it worked fine with before installing the experimental versions?
You might try moving your guisettings.xml file to guisettings.bak (~/Library/Application Support/XBMC/userdata/) and see if that does it.

If it does, compare the two files side by side and spot the difference(s).

Tried that, spotted some differences in audio settings, made changes and it works now. Thanks.
And what were they?

We can't fix a potential bug unless we know the cause.

I had the exact same symptoms as this post, my solution was setting the audio from 5.1 to 2.0. I always assumed it was necessary for my 5.1 setup even though I have a pass thru to my DTS/AC3 receiver. Since Gotham this is an "issue" that stereo sound will fail, in the help of the settings its actually even explained that it should be set to 2.0.
