Full Version: XBMC to my Pioneer sc-65 using dnla

What video (movie) formats will pioneer sc-65 play/support using dnla/UPnP from my XBMC server?

UPnP finds my XBMC server and the movies, but when I select a movie to play it gives me "file format error". I'm using DVDFab to RIP my DVD and Blu-rays and I've tried several different formats. Which one is the best to RIP to? One file, smallest, but with full 1080p. (basically I want my cake and eat it also)

Pioneer support says the server (XBMC) needs to support DLNA 1.5 or higher; Does it?

I'm a newbie to all this and I'm asking a lot of questions. Thanks in advance for any insight on this questions.

I would suggest reading your Pioneer manual.

But really XBMC is designed to be used with the XBMC machine plugged into your TV via HDMI.

DLNA on TVs is pretty hit and miss unless you have a transcoding server that recognises what your TV can do and transcodes accordingly. XBMC does not do so at this stage.

Smart TVS generally are not that smart.
