Guess this is for PVR? Can use a PCIe to SATA but was thinking more Server based storage

A server won't work if you are using WMC to record DRM protected content. You have to record to a local HDD. I could use an external USB drive but I don't like those. Ideally I'd prefer to just use a 2.5" HDD and have everything in a single case.
what about Celeron J1750 or J1850 ?
(and yes add a sata port, powered)

That will fit nicely into the case. No fans needed and no moving parts. Thank you

Hi

IR out port for 3.5mm IR probe to control other IR devices.
IR in port 3.5mm IR receiver wired on the same circuit as the front panel receiver so you can hide the box away and still receive IR.
Sim port configured to interface with a PCIe 3G/4G card.

Sim port what is it for?

Control other devices via the IR out port
Hide the box and have a magic eye on show to control it. IR in.
Sim slot, take the box out with you and use 3G connection to watch content.

Note the onboard IR receiver bottom left.

Edit beaten to it!
