Full Version: [LINUX] Cannot Shutdown XBMC

Hi Everybody,

I've been setting up my old pc as a XBMC machine for in the bedroom. What I would like is when I go to bed I could activate the timer countdown and XBMC would shutdown the machine. Unfortunately when I try to shutdown the machine (either by hand or with the countdown) it simply freezes up and hangs (and leaving the machine on).

The reboot function has the same effect.

I'm pretty sure that it will have something to do with rights and users and everything but I just can't put my finger on it.

Techdata:

XBMC 12.3 Frodo
Ubuntu server 12.4
start command: xinit XBMC

Thanks for your help! Smile
What, specifically, are you scripting?
Hi Smile

I'm not sure what you are refering to with scripting. I would like to use the in build shutdown timer. So by pressing "S" and then select shutdown, press up and select "custom shutdown timer"
Check ou the polkit part of this guide, maybe that helps.
Hi
not sure if any help, but on my system if I switch off the TV/AVR or modem before the pc it always hangs
