I'm moving my recorded shows around. I have my recorded TV being recorded directly to a small raid 1 array, and from there it gets renamed/moved to network storage on my clearos machine.
I have the watched folder setup in WMC and can play the recordings locally and through extenders, but it doesn't show up in xbmc recorded TV. In the config.XML I had to specify "smb://share" under the networkrecfolder.. If I leave it blank or put in "//share/" then it doesn't work.
Looking in the logs it shows:
2014/02/06 18:41:40.149 RecService> starting recording service - done
2014/02/06 18:41:40.154 Local 'Recorded tv' path: D:\Recorded TV\
2014/02/06 18:41:40.155 Format: NTFS
2014/02/06 18:41:40.155 Network 'Recorded tv' path: smb:\\192.168.1.61\Recorded_tv\
2014/02/06 18:41:40.157 Additional watched 'Recorded TV' folders:
2014/02/06 18:41:40.157 > \\forcefield\archived_dvr
The above log is from when I specified smb.. Any ideas? Can I add it manually somehow?
Thanks!
Is \\forcefield\archived_dvr a shared folder by everyone? Assuming it is, either attach a link to the whole log, or at least post the part of the log that has "GetRecordings>"
Not sure if this is related, but I've found that you should always share using IP address and not SMB name, i.e.
\\192.168.1.80\TV
and not
\\Server\TV
I also do the same with my Recorded TV Folder in the ServerWMC Application. I manually change it from \\Name\Recorded TV to \\IPADDRESS\Recorded TV. Otherwise, you'll have times when the name won't resolve and you won't be able to watch recordings..
That sort of sounds like it's dependent on name resolution within your home network etc and also depends if you have a mix of windows and non windows clients etc... I have 3 windows boxes running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 and have never had an issue using host names.
Makes sense. As I indicated in another post, I use Windows 7 Media Center to record TV, but I watch it back on OpenELEC devices which run Linux. They were having lots of trouble with name resolution, but not anymore since I only use IP addresses now.
Yeah I always use IP addresses, sometimes for troubleshooting or out of frustration i'll use the full name temporarily. I have local DNS servers running on the network so it shouldn't matter too much.
Anyway I think I was having samba share permission issues before which I got sorted out.. I think. I just updated to the newest serverwmc version and it keeps giving me this error in the logs about the UNC path. The windows PC (straxus) has the recordings working just fine at the moment, where the openelec PC (192.168.1.141) shows nothing in the folder.
Here's the latest log snippet:

Thanks for the help
When you use your pi, your password gets embedded in the path, and the password decrypt function we are using seems to be throwing an exception. I don't understand the error from the log file. Any chance there is a weird char you are using in your password?
It's not a pi, it's full openelec on an HTPC if it makes any difference.. I'm specifying the user credentials as "domain\user", could it be the backslash? I can try it without specifying the domain, or would putting in an encoded backslash (%5C) work?
Yes, don't include the domain (your shouldn't need it). The error was from the password though, you don't need to tell me what's in it - just whether it has a weird character.
Although, like I said, I don't understand the exception...
Hm. The password was 6 letters and two numbers, nothing all that strange. I changed the credentials to a different user without numbers in the password and the logs have stopped showing the error but I haven't had time to test it yet.
