I thought this combination was supposed to work now?

Clearly here it doesn't so what have I missed?

You missed telling us what version of the pvr mythtv addon you used or showing a debug log.

Sorry, but it was whatever comes with the current stable Frodo 12.3

Anyway, I came across a post recommending nightly builds. That went well and everything, including audio (yayyyy) is now working.
