I am looking to purchase one the many andoid media streamers that run XBMC and they all seem to come with the basic remote control that any settop type devcie would come with... and this is what I want.... I dotn really want to use a mini keyboard and mouse to control it.. its not as wife friendly and more hassle when crashed out in bed as then its a 2 handed job.... Are there any normal puch button remotes that can control XBMC easily and still give me access to all the functions like right mouse click ( a back button maybe)??

Cheers
I use flirc ( http://flirc.tv/ ) I dont know if it works on android (I dont see why not) but it may be worth asking on their forums if you consider it.

The beauty of it is that you can use pretty much any remote you like.
I use a NUC with CIDR, so the Harmony Smart remote works well for myself, and is wife friendly.
NUCHuh CIDRHuh?
Intel NUC (little small box computer):

CIDR means that it comes with an IR port (The newer models at least) so all you need to do is emulate a Microsoft media center remote and you are off and going.

Most of the remotes you setup will allow you to do all the functions you want.

I use my DTV remote with flirc on my XBMC setup.

The only issue is getting a remote with too few buttons, like an Apple remote. They are very simple (and do things like a long push is another function) but they can't emulate EVERYTHING You might want (but you can always use a smartphone app for that, imo)
The flirc looks amazing and hard to go wrong at that price ($23) - just ordered one.

I have a mini-kb also for when using other pc functions, but the flirc looks awesome for xbmc
Flirc with Harmony or URC or for sheer laziness when typing a Logitech K400 keyboard with touchpad
