I am in the process of finishing off my server. Nothing fancy just a Microserver with some drives.

What is the best and safest way to transfer files to it. Currently I have a 3tb HD in an enclosure which all my data sits in, about 2.3tb. I have 5Tb ready in the server to accept it, with out parity. The server is connected to a Gigabit router which has also has a USB connection for HD.

Is there a program that can tranfer across the info and ensure it is correct.
If USB means USB2.0 it's probably faster to transfer to files over GigabitEthernet (assuming that the hd is connected over sata on the host).

You could use a script to copy the data (e.g. using robocopy from windows) and check if all files are transferred correctly.
I use FreeFileSync to transfer from my PC to my NAS. Never failed.
