I would like it to transfer all of my existing xbmc setup; skins, add ons, etc. identically from one widows 7 laptop to a windows 8.1 NUC. I have did a search but have not found a definitive answer. Thanks in advance for any help.
I haven't done this often so my suggestion is just best guess. I would copy C:\Users\Your_User_Name\AppData\Roaming\XBMC and C:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC over to the new machine (10 gigs+) and ensure my media had the same source paths.. If paths or drive letter change, then you'll likely have to rescan but if your media has been exported to separate files a rescan will be local and quick.

A re-install from scratch is not that big of a deal if you have exported to separate files, and export and import should work well if the paths are identical.

Just copying over your userdata folder is usually enough, but you'll miss your skins and add-ons. If you want to save your watched status you'll have to make accommodation in your advanced settings file.http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Import-export_library

That should work. I like to run in portable mode (create a windows shortcut and add -p switch to the command line in the shortcut that starts xbmc. Then everything needed is within the top level xbmc folder. Makes for easy moving. Still if your source paths are different you will have to fix those.
