when I try sports channels get ok pic but a NASTY sounds like interference.
any ideas?

Tried the XBMC nightlies? I had some pretty bad sounds with Frodo, this cleared up with the Gotham nightlies http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/android/arm/

hi mate total noob here how do I install this ?
and are they all the same?

They're nightlies, so they're compiled every day and are marked with a date. Install it the same way you installed XBMC stable.
