I have been unable to figure this out. I think it has something to do with the control or keyboard settings. But I cannot access home or XBMC menu without stopping the playing video file first. I am using a remote control and I think I may have to change it.

Does anybody know how to fix it?

I believe the ESC key will drop you out of a video back to the main menu but leave the video running. You probably need to figure out how to map one of your remote keys to that.
