team,

i've got a pickle here. i'd like to flac dts audio cds. but when i flac it with exact audio copy, the compression level is very low and the play-back in xbmc is just noise.

how can i:
- get the audio compression higher
- get xbmc to feed the audio to my reciever as dts

help and pointed would be great! awesome, awesome app by the way.
the only way to feed dts to your receiver is to leave the audio as untouched dts.

to confirm:
- "untouched dts" means dts in a .wav file right?
you = :nuts:

dts is already compressed using lossy compression
you can't get better quality or smaller files by recompressing them lossless

Shocked

oh and see: http://manual.xboxmediacenter.de/wakka.php?wakka=papfaq

actually, i think it would have to be a .dts file.

both points are in-line with my previous research. thanks for confirming it. Wink

just trying to find a way to keep my disk usage down.
just another note that as you are getting the dts off an audio cd, it's encoded from a 44.1khz source, and thus we can't pass this data through to the receiver without decoding it and re-encoding it to ac3.

you may well be better quality if you did this conversion (dts -> ac3 5.1 at 48khz) on your computer.

whether you will tell the difference or not ofcourse is up to you to decide.

cheers,
jonathan
