Full Version: HDMI audio problem with Gotham upgrade

In Frodo 12.3, audio was working perfectly through HDMI using Alsa. I use an Asus AT3IONT-I Deluxe system.

After upgrading from to Gotham, the only option for audio output device is
Code:
Built-in Audio Analog Stereo, Analog Output (PULSEAUDIO)
I'm not sure I like the idea of switching to Pulse, because of its resampling quality, but I'll give it a try if it's recommended now.

Following an online guide, I changed my output device to HDMI Stereo in pavucontrol. Then HDMI is available in XBMC. But when I play DTS files with passthrough, the video stutters. If I disable passthrough, the video looks fine.
In short: Pulse is only running and used, cause you have installed it. If you don't want it, uninstall it or use the AE_SINK=ALSA workaround

Btw. Debug Log or it never happened.

Concerning resampling: Since yesterday night, we resample to exact the samplerate pulseaudio is running. So you can choose best resampler quality and pulseaudio server won't touch it anymore out of xbmc. More about 192 /24, here: http://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/demo/neil-young.html

If you don't like pulse just launch xbmc with "AE_SINK=ALSA xbmc" to use alsa.
Works great for me and I have HD-audio just as before.
